Let your gentleness be evident to all. Phillipians 4:5 (NIV)
This elegant cross was commissioned by my client in 2005 in honor of her Inlaws’ 30th Wedding Anniversary. The
design was borne out of the following description of the amazing couple:
John and Cathy** are both Christians. John works as a principal of a christian elementary school. Cathy works as a tutor/para-educator
at the same school. They are celebrating their 30 year anniversary this month, they love Hawaii, they lived for 13 years
in Taiwan with their two boys as missionaries. They have two grown sons. One just got married this year - no kids yet, and
the other got married 7 years ago and we have two kids, So now they have 2 daughters-in-law . . . They are both very funny,
very much filled with wisdom and have kind and gentle spirits. They love kids and live in the *** area. . . . Something that
is simple and fun for you to put together will be wonderful.
The overall color scheme was kept gentle and calm in reference to the recipient couple. The cross is rich in symbolism:
Jade Focal Stone & Green Aventurine Beads: Refer to the thirteen years spent as missionaries
in Taiwan
Pearls: The traditional 30th Wedding Anniversary gift
Silver & Gold Beads: Incorporated based on the following verse:
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom,
The man who gains understanding,
For she is more profitable than silver,
And yields better returns than gold.
Proverbs 3:13 (NIV)
Six Silver Hearts: Symbolize the couples’ two sons, two daughters-in-laws and two
grandchildren. The hearts are divided into one grouping of 2 and one grouping of 4, symbolizing the couples’ sons families.
Materials: Green Aventurine beads, silver and gold beads, silver hearts, freshwater
pearls, off-white stained glass on wood base, grouted
