This cross was commissioned for my client’s daughter-in-law’s birthday by her mother-in-law. The recipient is
also a dear friend of mine so creating it was an extra special experience.
The cross is highly symbolic. The vine was used to represent family, nurturing and a sense of connect, similar to a family
tree. Other symbolism:
Train and Doctor Symbol Charms: My friend was very close to her father who passed away several years ago. He was
a train collector and a doctor.
Birthstones: The Topaz birthstones on the vine represent the recipient’s father whose birthday was in November.
The birthstones on the right side of the vine represent the recipient, her husband, children and father. The birthstones
on the left side of the vine represent the recipient’s sister, her husband, their children and her father.
Background: The background was pieced in a beautifully variegated charcoal and black art glass to coordinate with
the cross recipient’s interior decor.
The cross now hangs in my friend’s home.
